The specs for my netbook says 1 memory slot 2 GB max.
SIW reports 2 memory slots 4GB max.

Do I need to disassemble the netbook to determin the number of slots?
(RAM slots are buried beneath the keyboard)

Need to find out before ordering memory for it.

SIW shows memory info reported by BIOS.

Your Netbook specs may be referring to the number of slots you can access, and their max memory. In this case, the orig 2gb is hard-wired on the board, and you have a single slot which can hold 2gb. The BIOS might report both as slots, even though one is not user-accessible. Check the tech specs for your Netbook at the manufacturer's site.
