Cannot run in virtual environment (QEMU)
#1

I am running a Proxmox 9 host with a Windows Server virtual machine. When executing the siw.exe or siw64-noadmin.exe (2015-v15.10.1111 64-bit Technician's Version) I receive the above errorr message.

I'm trying a proof-of-concept for SIW to create/update and store the data in a SQLite3 database (using ODBC), when a user logs in to the domain.

Am I doing something wrong, is there another way to test this, or will SIW not work in this environment?

I have attach a screen shot of the error message and a  ChatGPT method, to try the POC.

Thanks - tried in a VMware environment, works like a charm!

You could try running it on bare metal just to confirm, or contact SIW’s developer for a technician build that supports virtual machines. For testing, tools like Speccy or HWiNFO don’t mind VMs and can give similar hardware info without triggering that restriction.
