Get passwords from external drive
#1

I have an elderly client who had a computer get the dreaded orange light on the power button. I was able to remove the hard drive and get the data, but I'm wondering if it's possible to use SIW to retrieve any passwords he may have saved. I've connected the hard drive using an external enclosure.

Thanks! Love this software!

No, it doesn't. SIW can retrieve passwords from a running Windows installation, but it doesn't support extracting saved passwords from an offline Windows installation or a hard drive connected through a USB enclosure. In this situation, the drive is treated as a data drive, so password recovery features are not available.

I was pretty sure that would be the answer, but I wanted to check. Thank you Gabriel.
